Backyard Buckets Beginnings

Updated: Feb 9, 2021

City of Dickinson's Solid Waste and Recycling Department is looking to start a pilot program that will encourage residents to compost their food waste. This program seeks to help residents build relationships with each other and organizations in the community through community work and resource sharing.

Composting is a great way to reduce waste going to the landfill and turn it into something usable. This pilot's goals are to increase local resilience, build sustainability awareness, and provide quality soil amendments for local use.

This will benefit home-owners as well as apartment dwellers. Classes on backyard and community composting will be provided to help residents start the process of diverting their food waste.

We encourage any resident of Dickinson or the surrounding areas interesting in composting to please sign-up for the program. We would also encourage you to take our interest survey so we can best fit everyone's needs.
