While it has been nice to see extra snow this year, I'm sure most of you are in the same boat as I am, I'm ready for some nicer weather. I keep reminding myself it won't be long. The trees have already started to grow buds. Birds are starting to return. Best of all, the days are getting longer.
With the longer days, your compost should be starting to heat up. This means that your ecosystem should be reactivating. Between now and the middle of April is a great time to add some browns to your compost to make sure that you have a decent moisture balance in your compost as the snow melts. I have noticed that my compost is shrinking which means decomposition is working!
With the Spring and Summer seasons upon us, keep an eye out for upcoming workshops. They will start in April and run through September. If anyone has any requests, please let me know.
